Ok, So I am a college student at Penn State and we have a limit on the amount of internet we can use per week in our dorms. I went over that limit (ichat uses up SO much bandwidth!) three times and when that happens, my internet is cut off for the rest of the semester
So then I decided that I would just tether my iphone 3gs to my macbook pro unibody. I remembered that I could do this using help.benm.at but that was in the summer and now that my iphone has 3.1.2 I couldn't do that anymore and I couldn't downgrade bc I never jailbroke it before.
I just went ahead and jailbroke my iphone and used the dev team hack to enable tethering (using this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIeTLEAKGc8) and it said I was changing the baseband or something? I don't know...
I also just played around with the jailbreak by installing things from cydia like getting backgrounder and things that added different settings like downloading attachments from mail and quickreply for texting and stuff.
Anyway, what I want to do now is unjailbreak my iPhone because my dorm is going to have unlimited wireless internet so here is my question:
Because I changed the baseband and other settings and things, if I restore my iphone to a new fresh 3.1.2 using itunes, can I use the "restore from backup" feature in itunes using a backup that I made when my iphone was jailbroken?
Will this be the same as restoring from a non-jailbroken backup? Should I not do this?
Thanks,
Chris
