Hi,

I have an Iphone 3Gs and it was orginally locked to Orange network. I had someone unlock it and jailbreak it but now I don't want the jailbreak anymore. I want it to be unlocked as in new "factory unlocked" so that I can update it normally with itunes plus purchase latest apps from itunes store. If I backup and restore my Iphone using the latest version of Itunes and set it up as new, will it remove the jailbreak and the lock to orange, or will it still be locked to Orange? I'm afraid to restore it to 'new' because I don't know if it will still be locked to Orange. Then I won't be able to use it because in order to lock it by Orange, 1. they charge you money and 2. my iphone had to be paired with them for 6 months in order to give me the IME code to unlock my phone (which wasn't).

Thanks in advance

Start with the current firmware and Baseband version

Also which blob/SHSH's you have for the phone.

Doing a regular backup and restore in itunes only effects your personal settings, a firmware restore will break the jailbreak, but currently you then will be locked to Orange.

Only an unlock via a Jailbreak with ultrasn0w is free, what you want can't be done free of charge.

Oh I see. I'm really new to this stuff. I only want to do this to my phone because it's easier for me to have an unlocked phone that can carry out a hassle-free update.

The version I'm using is 3.1.2. So if I unlock it via ultrasn0w will it remove both the lock to Orange and the jailbreak at once?

Thanks a lot for your help

Jailbreak and ultrasn0w go together.

What you want is an IMEI unlock, if Orange refuses to unlock it you can check for online 3rd party IMEI unlock.

Your only other option is jailbreak and unlock with ultrasn0w

You are on a very old iOS version btw

I know yeah I'm on a very old iOS version :/. I'll try out the 3rd party thing for the IMEI unlock. Thanks for your help.
