I have a jailbroken iPhone. I need to restore it to it's factory settings. If I do a restore is it going to install iOS 6 in it or will it install the iOS that's in my phone right now (5.1)

I have iOS 5, all I want to know is if I restore my phone as a new phone does it restore but to it's factory settings when I first bought the phone or is it going to install iOS 6 on it

If you read this forum it might lead you to the conclusion that the questions asked are important and the options you have depend on the answers provided.

I don't even know what SHSH blobs are. if I sync my iPhone I tell it that I don't want to upgrade, but I guess you don't have a choice when you restore as a new phone?

not if you don't have shsh blobs which if you don't know what they are pretty sure you don't have them. Oh and you still haven't shared the dark secret of what phone you have.

I have an iPhone 4S.

Restores of 4S are only possible in limited circumstances
You must have installed your current firmware via iTunes, not OTA or factory fresh
And hash file must have been saved after the iTunes update.

Otherwise, iOS6 is your choice

Had you provided the device info days ago, I could have provided you this definitive answer days ago.
