Restoring Mac Mail backup from server and keeping it on server

Greetings,

I have a 16GB mac mail backup that I am not wanting to keep locally on my Mac Mini. Right now the backup file resides on my server. While the account associated with it (@yahoo.com) is inactive I would like to be able to access the messages for search purposes. I was wondering if there was a way to import the backup in Mac Mail without importing the backup file locally as I really don't want to take the 16GB hit on my hard drive.
