So I downloaded the Firmware Restoration CD file and burned it to a CD. I shut down, then hold the power button until it the status light begins blinking and let go, it makes the beep and I insert the cd. Problem is, it doesn't take. It shows a folder with a question mark on it, then the apple logo and boots into OSX.

I've tried doing it with the disc already in the drive, and same problem. It just won't take.

I just want to get the original firmware back to factory, and not have to deal with this boot camp garbage. I've already assimilated the XP partition. I just need to get the firmware back to normal.

Anybody know anything about this?

I took it into the Apple Store, and they said reinstalling OSX doesn't flash it to the original firmware. Anybody confirm this? The idiot that I spoke with when I called Apple Tech Support didn't even know anything about it.

I just want to bring it back to factory, I don't care if I have to download all 34 updates again, as long as I have the original firmware. The new one's just been giving me problems.

Why do you want to have the old firmware?

Anyhow, try this:

http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Replacing_XOM_With_Boot_Camp

and then try the restore firmware CD...it might work.

Because I have the firmware updated to run Boot Camp. I've been having audible clicks whenever an audio file is initiated, ever since installing that firmware. Never had the problem before with the old firmware. It's only noticeable when i wear headphones. And it's not just the headphones, it happens with different headphones.

I read the documentation the other day and I beleive it said the firmware restoration disc only works if the firmware update has failed and it will not revert a machine with the new firmware sucessfully installed.
