Hi guys...

So i've just purchased a new macbook pro that shipped with OSX High Sierra pre installed.

My plan is to use it as a duplicate rig of my main mac in my studio. I've done a timemachine back up of my main studio mac and want to restore that back up to my new backup so both machines are the same.

However when I've tried to restore it onto my laptop i get a message saying that it can't as it was backed up on a different machine??

Any ideas on how i can do this as doing it all from scratch is going to take ages.

Thanks

Your new machine OS needs to be as updated to the same as TM one is. You should open the new machine say Migrate later and update it to latest OS. Then you can use Migrate and TM.
