Restrictions Passcode - how does it work?

I have a few questions about this... using iOS 2 in iPhone 7 Plus.

My mother doesn't know the 4 digit code.

1) How many WRONG attempts are allowed?

2) What will happen after X tries? I'll be able to unlock the device? It's already using Touch-ID and a code she knows. We just don't know the restriction passcode

3) Is there a way to remove this restriction passcode without reseting to factory settings and some drastic measure?

4) Since the code is not 0000 can I assume it was changed at some time to anything else, or it's possible iOS created a different code than 0000?

10 tries and the phone is wiped and has to be sent has new. The passcode cannot be bypassed unless you use fingerprint. Highly unlikely iOS reset passcode.

Found this link just now saying it's limited to 6 attempts

And after that the device is locked for 1 minute. So that means you can try 6 times and just have to wait 1 minute or this will increase (for 2, 4, 8, etc. minutes) in further attempts?

Those instructions appear to be for the phone passcode, not restriction passcode.
Your google search criteria should be:
forgot ios restriction passcode
In any regard, here is one of the links I found:

I just briefly glanced over the link, it appears you may need to attach device to computer running iTunes.

Those instructions appear to be for the phone passcode, not restriction passcode.

And from what I read it won't do any good to do a backup in case you forgot the restrictions passcode, if you try to restore from this backup you'll be back to square one. The restrictions passcode will still be there in your backup, after you reset to factory settings and try to restore from it.

I tried setting up screen time settings for a child phone (family sharing), through my phone.

It appears that the passcode I thought I set up for for the child’s screen time will not work (maybe I typed it wrong to begin with).

I am now locked out of reseting his screen time code to every 60 minutes.

Any thoughts on the best method to reset a child’s screen time code through a parent’s phone, that doesn’t know the original screen time code for the child? I am struggling with this one…

And from what I read it won't do any good to do a backup in case you forgot the restrictions passcode, if you try to restore from this backup you'll be back to square one. The restrictions passcode will still be there in your backup, after you reset to factory settings and try to restore from it.

[doublepost=1537673791][/doublepost]If you have a backup on your computer from pre iOS 12 you can download a program called pin finder (pin finder.net) that will scan your backup and output your restrictions passcode in a few seconds.

You should have clarified that the above is a comment from some random poster, not the official line of AppleToolBox.
There is nothing dangerous about it, Restriction passcode options has been around for years. Not Apple's fault if users can remember a simple 4 digit code or have the wherewithal to use a password manager of some sort.

If you cannot remember your previous iOS Restrictions Passcode, Apple’s advice is to erase your device and then set it up as new to remove the Screen Time passcode that you don’t know."

Well, there's no way then, to recover it. I already tried 5 combinations - no luck. Not going to try again and lock this device. Since there's no backup done prior to this, the way I see it is that I have to do the following:

And reinsert all the information currently stored there. For backup I suggest using Google Drive, too, since each account allows 15 GB for free.

My iPAD didn't ask for a 4 digit code since I never used it a normal passcode or touch ID. This one from my mother (iPhone 7 Plus) is asking but we don't know the password.

Why hasn't Apple changed this in a way that we can remove this restriction easily?
