Good Evening,

Does any one know the cost to upgrade the memory for an iMac (Late 2013) at the Apple Retail Store? This model requires an authorized tech to upgrade it.

Thanks!

You don't need a tech. Just go look at iFixit for instructions to upgrade the memory.

While this is technically true, the 21.5" model is notoriously difficult to replace (27" version has a simple user friendly access panel). On the 21.5" version, you have to pry open the screen with out cracking it, removing the hdd, remove the fan, remove the logic board, etc. not something I want to risk. This is why it's rated as being only available for authorized technicians.

So does anyone know how it is to upgrade at the Apple Store or geek squad, or some other place?

Thanks

I know the authorized store near me charges $75 CAD an hour in labour so I would imagine just $75 CAD for ram where I am anyway.
