Hi there

I got a new MBP 15'' today and installed Adobe CS.

What has surprised me the most is that for some reason image formats/ sizes are displayed totally different on my new MBP/ Retina + Adobe CS.

I created a new image/ composition (doesn't matter if Photoshop or After Effects) in HD-1080p size and while on my old MBP-17'' model it is being displayed correctly in size what happens on my new MBP baffles me...

The document/ composition appears way too small. If I'm not mistaken a full HD1080p document should be as wide as the smallest screen-setting ("more space" in new Scaled settings). But it's like half of it at full 100% zoom!

Even if I'm at "Best (Retina)" setting or lower screen size the document appears way, way too small. Instead of a HD1080p it appears more like a 720p version. And yes I have checked to make sure I have the correct format on.

Please tell me what am I missing? There's no way a HD1080p composition appears that small at 100% zoom in Adobe apps.

Let me know,
thanks

Edit: I understand the new MBP Retina's have over 3K resolution. But this makes a 1080P composition/ document appear too small for editing. Is there a way this can be corrected to display like on real 17'' 1920x1200 screens?

I too am looking for a fix for this. I see no way unless you use a external monitor. This again is not down to Apple and more on Adobe to release a fix. Web design on retina screen with Photoshop is hideous.

I think I understand what you mean by that. I learned the hard way when I had no one helping me out.

If you're using rMBP with no external monitor and want to design website, I would double the size... for example: 1000 x 1500 change it to 2000 x 3000 @ 72 DPI. That way, it will look perfect in retina screen.

When you're done with design, you can use this nifty cool app - http://macrabbit.com/slicy/

I guess a hacky fix is to double the dpi... Going from 72 to 300 on Photoshop seemed to fix the issue for me.

Also working in Illustrator also fixed many of the issue.... Not restrained by being bit map, though I guess it's an issue when working in video :(
