hi all,
i put all my girlfriend's emails into an e-mail folder in mail.app, and after that i decided to create a smart folder that would automatically filter them in there. so i deleted the original FOLDER that i had put her emails in, and now i cant undo it!!!! help!!!! is there anyway to get those emails back? i use gmail btw. thanks!!!

They might still be in the trash in Mail. Click on the trash icon, and if the messages you want are in there, drag them out to the folder you want them in. Also, you may be able to still find them in your GMail account depending on how things are set up. Log into your GMail account via the regular web interface and see if you can find them. Just so you understand, smart folders are not real folders. Nothing gets moved into them. They're basically just a saved search that automatically updates.

okay, so now i have another problem. so since all my e-mails are stored on gmail's servers, i decided to delete the local folders on mail.app and delete my pop account from mail.app and start over. but now it only imports some but not all of the messages. i tried moving the emails back to the inbox from the archive folder in gmail's web mail interface, but no avail. anyone else have this problem before?

In gmail within settings>forwarding and pop, you need to enable pop for ALL mail. It's probably only downloading your recent mail.
