I downloaded Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory earlier and I completely hated it. I joined a server and had no idea what to do or anything and the graphics and physics are terrible. Now if I could understand what to do then maybe I could forget about the graphics and physics but I kept getting killed by the enemy from about 10 miles away! I mean Deus Ex has better graphics and that was released in 2000. If anyone can help me or dislikes the game too then feel free to reply. I'm getting a MBP and would like some good online games to play so if suggestions can be made on essential games to get or something that would be great too. Thanks
You'll have to give the game a chance. When I first started I thought it was a bit wacky, but after a week, I WAS HOOKED. I neglected all my homework back in high school and played ET till sunrise, regretfully. You'll be good in no time, just ask for help in games.
For a new player, you'll want to look for a few things on the server list:
1. Avoid FF, friendly fire, games. Filter them.
2. Campaign mode. I recommend the 6 original maps(oasis, battery, gold rush, radar, railgun, and fuel dump), rotating 3 at a time.
3. ET pub servers
4. # of players generally 20-30
5 Punkbuster and team balance on
6. XP save if you must, I generally avoid it. Only benefit is that you rack up XP and save your promotions and abilities for a period, ranging 1 day to 1 week.
7. Clan servers, avoid them for now.
You'll obviously want to have favourite servers so that you can be familiar with all the regulars. Most of them aren't dicks, they'll be glad to help.
You'll want to start off as a field op or an engineer. Field ops feed ammo, send artillery and airstrikes, generally, you should kill the most. Engineers are essential to missions, being one will help you learn objectives. Avoid being a medic at first, because they start games with only one clip and one nade. Benefit is that you can heal yourself and others. Most of the time, you'll be screaming for ammo that'll never come, so can't rely on field ops, you'll have to resort to picking up enemy smgs. Once you're confident in your skills, however, go medic and rambo the hell out of the people. It's the most fun class, second only to soldier.
If you have the time, and you're still willing to play, you must go to this site. Provides you with many strategies, and it explains all the classes and how to play them. It also teaches you basic scripting so you can use commands and shortcuts to help you in the game.
