Ok i had high hopes after seeing a lot of folks' success over in the avsforum.
So I got a mini yday (main use would be HTPC, displaying/editing photos etc.)

Troubles started as soon as i hooked it up to my 1080P JVC RPTV, overscan ! which I kinda expected. But I wasn't expecting this much overscan, part of the dock and the whole of the top menu was out of the screen.

As suggested, i used DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX to play around with the resolutions/timing in an attempt to eliminate the overscan.
Spent the entire day doing this, blanked out my TV a couple of times, booted into safe mode etc.
My TV didn't have VGA/DVI, so i was using DVI-HDMI cable and yes, i tried un-checking the 'Overscan' box in the Display option, that brought the dock/menu in view, but with black pillars all around which is a waste of screen real estate.

So my question is, do all macs have this issue, or was it more because of the onboard video? If I get a mac pro, for example, with the 8800GT, would there be better video card drivers and would there be a better way through the driver software to tweak the timings/resolution to show me full screen?

I regularly plug my Mac into my TV, and never had any problems.

Yeah the overscan originally had me nervous.....

Because I had a heck of I time trying to figure it out with the MBP. It wasn't until I realized that BOTH the MBP/Mini and the TV have an Overscan option. Unchecking Overscan in the Mini setup gave me black bars around the screen and then selecting +1 overscan in the TV setup menu resulted in a perfectly filled/centered image. I'm also NOT running in 1080 interlaced as text from across the room was unreadable, so I'm currently running in I believe 720 non-interlaced (can't remember exactly). I need to take a picture, it's pretty damn cool!

Same problem. Also a JVC 1080p H-DILA set. Overscan (on the mini) is TOO overscanned, not overscanned is far too underscanned.

No separate overscan setting on the tv that I can find.

Attempting to try switchresx now. Anyone who has any suggested settings would be my hero.
