Returning 6 Plus. Recommend me a phone to exchange with. Verizon Wireless Edge.

I have the 10GB share everything plan, which gives me a $25 bill credit when I use EDGE.

Decided on the 6 Plus because of resale value, and because I was worried in two years most Android phones would be slow like my S3 was for me a come mid 2014.

The issue I have with iOS: RAM. There is not enough RAM. Seriously this 6 Plus keeps killing my apps so much. It's so bad I killed everything but Safari and USAA (bank). I needed to copy my routing and account number to make a payment at chase (has terrible app). Every single time I tried the second I went back to the web browser USAA would be killed and I'd have to login all over again.

That annoyed the hell out of me.

What I like about iOS/iPhone 6 Plus:

Battery life is so much better than my sisters S5 (owned it for 2 months while she was away in basic training then sold it).

Skype. Not only are all the status supported (Away, Do not Disturb) but I get notified when people send me an IM.

iOS Mail app - Love how it shows all my mail accounts, pulls mail very quickly, and unlike the stock Samsung mail app it doesn't show me only one account unless I manually select show all. That annoyed me. I have 10+ emails for work, and I need to be able to refresh them all at once.

On my the S5 Skype was so buggy it was unreal. I wouldn't get notifications, the app would crash, and sometimes it would freeze in the middle of conversation.
Seriously though the 6 Plus' battery life is amazing. I use this more than my tablets (iPad Mini and Ellipsis 7), because the battery is still at 55-59% at 6am when I go to sleep. I work night shift, and having a phone with this kind of battery life is amazing.

I miss being able to root and change ROMs even if the ROM's were buggy and usually unstable (having to pull battery in S3).
Also while I can play MKV's use moliplayer on this iPhone, it was easier when I could use VLC, Mxplayer, etc. I also miss Poweramp, nothing beats native FLAC support. It sucks having to convert to ALAC.

Loved how easy I could watch my Chinese Cartoons on the S5, but it's still easy to on the 6 Plus, moliplayer allows me to FTP the files.

Just sucks I have to use iTunes occasionally, really prefer Drag and Drop via Windows Explorer.
Oh but torrenting the file from kickass using uTorrent on Android was so awesome. God Android would be perfect with better battery life.

So is there an Android phone with a similar battery life to the 6 Plus, at least 1080p, on Verizon, and that if I EDGE up on won't be terribly slow come January 2017?

Ah . Why couldn't Apple put 2GB of RAM in the 6 Plus? Even 1536MB of RAM would have been better than just 1GB.

On Verizon, I would say look into either the Moto Droid Turbo or Note 4. I've never used the droid, but it has a huge battery. As far as the Note, if your around 50% when you go to sleep with the 6 plus, you'll probably be around 40% with the Note, plus you'll always have the option of swapping the battery, or getting an extended battery.

Another option is to wait for the GS6 and HTc M9 and see what the battery reports are on those 2 phones.

Strange I do a similar procedure here to log into my banks app because I copy and paste my log in details from one app to another (my case Notes to PTSB bank app) and it never closes the app going between them. Could it just be your banking app being buggy? I also don't have the problem of apps getting killed over zealously, but then I'm not heavy gaming - just regular app usage & games like Crossy Road.

Regardless if your looking for an Android instead, as previously recommended the Note 4 & Droid Turbo are the best options on Verizon right now. Some folks (Jamezr here also) have reported quite disappointing battery life on the droid turbo despite its 3900 mAh battery, and as it is non replaceable - the Note 4 is likely a better option in that regard. However with the droid turbo you get a near stock like Android experience compared to Touchwiz - so it may be just a case of going into store and playing with both.

Or as previously stated, wait till beginning of March and see what the M9 & S6 are like. You could find yourself kicking yourself if they turn out to be great...

Perhaps with lollipop it may be extended much like the Moro x 2014 got a big boost in battery life with lollipop.

Thank you for your reply. Definitely seems detailed, and I heard the Droid Turbo gets 5-6 hours on screen, which shocked some as the battery is nearly 4000mah, but doesn't really surprise me. Droid Razr Maxx had a huge battery but it still died often.

Anyway I am looking at the Note 4, but the 1440p screen seems like a battery drainer.

Anyone hear anything about the Sony Z3v? It looks like a plastic Z2 though, not really a true Z3.

Nexus 6 looks beautiful, but by the time it's on Verizon I'd probably be out of my return window (January 13, so I'm 11 days in).

You're on a 6 Plus and don't have your bank apps reset to the beginning? Hmm, I will admit USAA does look 1080p HD, perhaps it's taxing the phone hard?

Still though if Apple would have put 1536MB of RAM or 2GB of RAM this 6 Plus would of destroyed my expectations.

Yep 6 plus here and my bank app doesn't do it. Cant see why it would tax the phone hard just because of 1080p unless its improperly coded and its being told to kill/close background activity automatically once exited.

I had the 6 Plus then decided I wanted more customization, missed Google, and what Android was capable of so I exchanged it for the droid turbo. Battery on the Turbo is fine for me. I could go 2 days if I had to but I don't know if what your usage is like.

But to be honest, I feel the 6 Plus is the better device. I do regret exchanging it for the Turbo at times. Sound quality on the Turbo is awful if you're a music person. Camera on the Turbo is terrible as well. There are times you can get good shots but for the most part it is a terrible function. Definitely not as good as the Plus. And if you planned on rooting and romming the Turbo, well you won't be. Verizon has this thing so locked down I would be surprised if there ever will be root. The 6 plus is probably more customizable since you can jailbreak. I'm not saying the Turbo is a bad phone because it definitely is not a bad device. If it's speed you want this thing has it. The ram powers everything I've thrown at this thing without a hiccup or stutter. Good screen, back button, Lollipop should be coming soon.

I've never used a Note 4 or any note phone so I can't help you there. But if it were me, I'd stay with the Plus.

Get a Note 4. I use Skype daily on it with no issues. It's also the best multitasking device at the moment. The split screen and floating windows really come in handy. Battery life is also excellent.

I have both the iPhone 6 plus and Note 4, on at&t though so battery on Verizon may be different, but the battery on my Note is almost as good as on my 6plus. I've been getting around 5 hours screen time, so that 1440p screen isn't as taxing as you would think.

That has been my experience as well. I have both the Note 4 and 6+. the battery life is very similar. The 6+ wins out on battery drain while in standby. They are both very solid performers!

Wait for iPhone 6S+ with 2GB DRAM or get a Note II, 3 or 4. Even my old 2012 Note II has 5 day standby time and runs things like Popcorn Time, XBMC, etc. beautifully on the AMOLED.

If you prefer iOS, your only real choice are iPhones and nothing else or wait for the 6s Plus which we all hope Apple doubles the RAM. The 6/6 Plus are great devices in their own right but it seems like they are like the original iPhone 4 which was powered by only a single core processor and started to choke faster after 3 years than the 4s model which went dual core. I don't see the iPhone 6/6 Plus holding up very long after a few years because of their lack of RAM. The "s" seems to correct the issues of the previous versions.
