Returning an M1, can it be ‘used’?

Hi,
I have a M1 mbp 16/512 arriving from Apple in a week.
I also have a M1 mbp 8/512 arriving in 3-4 weeks.

I’m thinking I will return the 16gb model, as looking at my current usage, my memory pressure on my 8gb 2015 mbp is generally only around 50% so I should actually be fine with 8gb, and I got a 10% discount on the 8gb M1 through work, so the price difference is useful.

My question- do I need to leave the 16gb sealed/unused? Or is it acceptable to use it for the couple of weeks before the 8gb arrives. (Which would still be within the return window I think),

You can open the box and use the Mac and as long as you dont damage it you are free to return it within the return window for a full and complete refund (extended this holiday winter - check the date based on your location).
