I bought an iPhone on UK launch day and everything about it has been fine except for one thing: on any calls, I get RF interference on the iPhone internal speaker (the earpiece, not the bottom speaker) making calls incredibly irritating. It seems like the earpiece isn't shielded properly. It's been like this since I got it but with so much on over the last few weeks I haven't had a chance to get it looked at.

Anyway, I was finally able to confirm with colleagues who own iPhones that there's does not do this so I'm fairly confident that my iPhone is defective. I've booked a genius bar appointment for Sunday at the Brent Cross store.

What I'd like to know is, do I need to take the box and all of the bits and pieces that came with the phone in with me, or will just the handset do? If they agree that it is defective, can I expect a replacement there and then? It will be just outside of the 14 days but it has been like this since day one. Will they replace everything (box, plug etc.) or just the handset?

TIA!

take everything back with you, most important is the receipt.
O2 and CPW policy is an exchange within 28 days of purchase NOT to send it off for repair. I suspect Apple would have a similar policy.
Just remember to wipe the memory of the phone before you take it back to the shop so it doesnt have your info still on it.

Canada EH!!!
If Apple has a 14 day policy, why wait until Sunday. Just drop into the store today (assuming that today would be within the 14 days).

Call Applecare

Why wait till then to let Apple know something isn't right?

Call up AppleCare and register the fault with the unit. That way, when you go to Brent Cross, they know for sure the issue wasn't just that day. (ask for the Case ID from the person on the phone)

Should you have issues with the 14-day thing, by doing this, you're registering the fault in that time - you'll try get a retail replacement - which is better.

Just make sure you take that receipt with you!

There are no genius bar appointments left today at Regent Street or Brent Cross.

So could I take this into the O2 store I bought it from then?

I just realised something else; will they transfer the SIM into the new phone or will I get a new SIM and have to ring up O2 to get them to transfer it onto my existing account?

I've got the receipt somewhere. I've always got my bank statement as proof of purchase if I can't find it.

I just swapped a phone today. they should take out the existing SIM and put it into the replacement phone.
