I tried to make it work, but a few things went against it
1) I bought the 256G cell version, along with the keyboard. All in, that configuration is $1,000. That’s just poor value compared to other iPads in the lineup, including iPad Pro. it’s also poor value relative to Macbook Air, iPhone, Apple watch, etc. This model desperately needs a Smart Keyboard Folio type cover for $129 or so.
2) The keyboard form factor itself is the worst of all of the iPad keyboards Apple offers. The two piece form factor, the kickstand which is stiff, etc make it super clunky. It looks thicker than the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro/Air when closed it. Again, the actual keyboard is great, but the covers and such don’t work for me. Takes up more real estate than the Magic Keyboard, and uncomfortable in the lap. Apple’s Smart Keyboard folios are better, even.
3) the iPad itself, which is actually very good, should be $50 cheaper in the base model and about $100 cheaper for the full spec model.
I will rock my 12.9” iPad Pro / regular iPad 9th gen combo for now. When Apple finally updates the iPad Pro 11”, iPad Air, whatever with a landscape camera, that will be the model I ultimately switch to
