Returning my 32GB for the 16GB?????

I'm curious If I should exchange my iPad for the 16GB, granted....if they don't charge me a restocking fee like they said they won't.

It seems like the extra 16 gigs might go to. Waste considering I use my iPhone for all my music. I could be saving money by getting a lower model.

All help me not needing a lot of hard drive space.

What do you think? I have 2 days to return this.
 
You can never be too rich, too thin, too good looking or have too much storage space. In 6 months when you changed some habit (like wanting lots of movies on your iPad) you could be sorry.:eek:

BTW also the iPad doesn't have a hard drive but flash.;)
 
It's funny I was initially worried because I only ordered the 16gb but I have installed 4 full pages of apps and games and I still have 10gb free LOL I also put on the movie Up, which I'm going to remove now that I watched it and will free up 1.2gb. Not sure what to even do with the extra space, I watch movies online, on netflix or abc app for tv. I have all my music on here as well but probably will take it off as it's not as useful on here as it is on my phone. I don't think I've ever listened to music on the iPad now that I think about it.
 
Remember it wont be 16gb free it will probally be like 14.6 gb free .


In saying that if you feel that is enough go for it swap it and use the extra credit for a case or something or buy some stuff from the apple or best buy store you got it out from.
 
Between Netflix and Air Video I find no reason to have more than 16gb on my iPad... in fact I'm using 2GB.
 
Yeah all I put Now is my entire naruto manga on it. Thats like 5gb

I won't get into this restocking fee discussion but they won't. I mean my specific location. It's been confirmed liked 3 times a week. They didn't know if the policy applies so they took the least damaging. Just assume there is no restocking fee.
 
The larger ones are great for keeping video on the device or for games that may be coming that will be larger. I am contempt with the 16GB model, I have 11GB left that with all the documents i have on it, from PDF's to books.I keep my audiobooks, and the podcasts on the iPod touch.

If you feel that it would be overkill to have the 32GB vs. the 16GB then you're doing the right thing. You could always use the extra $100 U.S. towards some accessories for the iPad rather than pocketing it.
I'm sure you meant that you were "Content" with the 16GB. What you wrote means you hate it. :D
 
i want the 64gb version i have a 32 gig ipod touch 2nd gen i want the ipad for all my movies and my ipod for my music. As i have more movies than music but my music is growing so i want more space for my touch. i have serveral apps that i want on both so would i be considered crazy for doing that
 
I originally bought a 16GB iPad but I ran out of space quickly so I exchanged it for a 64GB and it was worth it. I did not have to deal with any restocking fee. :)
 
Thanks for the correction, I did mean content, just typed to fast and didn't double check.
 
If I was buying another iPad I would get 16gb. I am too lazy to try to exchange my 32gb for a 16gb model, especially after i read about all the dead pixels, yellow tint screens and wifi problems people are having. Mine is just perfect in all regards except for too much space :)
 
I remember when the 3G came out for the iPhone and I was really disappointed they did not have a 16 gig model at launch. I almost held off buying one because of it. But instead I went with the 16 gig.

Although I have had times I filled it up, that was mostly because I had several movies on there that I was never going to watch. In normal use I only use a fraction of space. Apps for streaming my music limits what I need on there, and I have a lot of podcasts but they take up very little space.

I really thought the 16 gig iPad was going to be the killer model way out selling the others, but that doesn't seem to be the case does it?
 
I went with the 16gb. Wasn't a prce thing. Was just a use thing. I have the same kind of setup pretty much as the OP. Over 16gb is overkill to me. A 4gb model technically couldve worked for me.

Unless you don't have an iPhone/iPod, always away from home, etc I don't really see how you can use 64gb, 32gb or even all of 16gb. Use as in actually use, not just flll up the space
 
This specific Solid state drive that is based off flash memory.

Anyways, all my video are xvids and mkvs. I don't think I'll be transposing all of it. Hmmm I think I bought the 32gb for the bigger applications.

Is it true the 16gb have been giving a yellow tint?

So have the dead pixel and yellow tint problems been more common with the 16GB? Is the yellow tint issue classed as a fault and do they exchange if you buy one with a yellow tint? Cheers
 
I went with the 64GB and I'm glad I did. I have almost 10GB of photos alone, 10Gb of technical PDF books, and I've not even got to the music or movies yet. I too use AirVideo to keep most of my movies on my file server, but I still want some local to the device.

Everyone should also consider app size down the road. Elements is over a gig by itself, and I fully expect we'll see more large apps like this soon.

That all said, my wife has the 16GB model and is in no danger of filling it up. I guess it all depends on how much media you have and how much you want with you at a given time.
 
i have 5 gigs just in just Apps alone and its only been 2 weeks. The apps are getting bigger, count on that. I would stick with the 32 if I were you.

I subscribe to a lot of magazines. They are stored inside the App. Each magazine is 50-100mb it seems. That's 300mb per month or more, and if I want to keep a few back issues it will soon add up over the course of a year.

Add my drawings and doodlings in the various apps like Sketchbook Pro, Brushes & Adobe ideas.

Plan on reading a lot of books with both kindle & iBooks (i buy wherever cheapest).

Will be using the iPad for Keynote presentations

Will be wanting to take notes and write ideas in Pages

Want at least the same amount of music available to me as on my 16GB iphone (so at least 8-10gb of music)

Will be using the iPad to store my special photos and view them on the photo frame so need some decent storage there.

Ripped a few movies and TV episodes (as no iTunes movie content here) so again with digital version's of movies weighing in at 1.5Gb

Want to carry around games, and iPad specific games will indubitably get bigger in size due than the equivalent iPhone app.


And as you can work out space soon gets eaten up.

I went for 64GB and can easily see me needing that amount of space.
32GB would be a scrape. 16GB useless to me.

It's all down to usage.
