I have returned my AirPods Pro because they are just not comfortable. They make my ears sore after 20 mins, original AirPods are so much better, the only thing I liked about pro 2 is h2 chip and how quickly it connects. Otherwise they are not anywhere near my AirPods Max in sound quality and are less comfortable than original AirPods. Do you think they will put H2 chip in originals? Anyone else having issues with pros?

Everybody's "ear-fit" is so different. A trial run is the only way to tell if you can live with a headphone. And IMHO that applies to in-ear, on-ear, over-the ear-headphones.

For instance, with the help of a Headfi.org web site member I got advice to replace standard ear cups on a Master & Dynamic MW75 with larger ear cups from another one of their models that were larger and a much better fit.

My daughter for instance can't stand any in ear buds. She has never found a really comfortable ones.

I too own the AirPods Max and find them very comfortable. But of course not a usable for outdoor dog walks than my AirPods Pro 2 headphones.
