Returning WiFi iPad to Apple store....Anything i need to do?

Ok so i decided, I am going to return my iPad to the Apple store today and pre-order the 3G model.

Receipt says that i have until end of this week, so i am going to clear out my iPad and box it back up.

Do i just walk in with my receipt and tell them i want a refund? Should i tell them i plan on pre-ordering the 3G model? or just tell them its not for me?

Sorry, not sure how return work at the apple store at the mall. I know i have to pay a restock fee. No biggie though.

Nope. Just show up with it and the receipt. My wife and I were thinking about taking 1 of ours in so we can get a 3g.

If you've uploaded naked pictures of yourself to the iPad you should probably reset the iPad memory before returning it.

I originally wanted a 3G iPad but then I thought about it.

I already have an iPhone and Nexus One with unlimited data here in the UK.

If I wanted to use 3G with the iPad even IF it uses the same rolling one month buy when you like data plan it will end up costing me money that I don't need to spend when I can tether either of those phones to my iPad wifi version.

So why pay £/$100 or so more AND pay for data when you can tether your phones!

Makes no sense to me... so I have decided to go for a wi-fi version.

I think the arguments for getting the 3G instead of tethering are:

1. If you tether then that drains your phone battery very fast. With a 3G version you can get 9 hours of 3G and still have a fully charged phone for phone calls - with tethering you only get 2-3 hours of 3G and your phone runs out of battery.

2. The 3G version will have GPS. Maps (and similar GPS-requiring apps) do look pretty nice on the iPad, so being able to use them on there as opposed to your phone is an advantage.

3. There is some concern that AT&T, in the US, will start to crack down on those who are "illegally" tethering and will enforce the 5GB limit on the iPhone.

I just returned my ipad to the apple store and got out of the restocking fee by telling them I'm waiting for the 3G version. I think what helped is that I called ahead of time and explained the situation. I remembered the reps name and when I got to the store mentioned that the rep, named so and so, explained that it might be possible to have the fee waived based on my reason of wanting to wait for the 3G version. The guy said he had to talk to a manager and came back and told me I wouldn't have to pay.
