Ok folks, bare with me as I try and explain this

I’ve done this in the past, and what I’ve always been led to believe is...if you purchase an Apple item in store then you have 14 days to return, if you purchase an Apple product Online for pick up in store, then you have 28 days to return the item, as you would if at home and returned it.

On the 22/06/2019 I purchased a couple of Apple accessories Online for pick up in store to use with my iPad Pro as I thought I’d lost my 2m USB-C Cable and my Apple Watch charger puck / cable.

So anyway, I went Offshore and as I opened my drawer, under my bed, I noticed the cables which I thought I’d lost. On Friday 5th July I placed a return request, it states in the Email ‘You have 5 business days to return your item(s), but I knew I had longer.

I came home today (10th July) and went straight to the Apple store in Aberdeen to return the items, this was also the original place I picked them up from.

The guy asked me when I purchased them and I said just over 2 weeks ago, he got out his handheld device and it stated the items were over 2 weeks and could not be returned. I told him what I have always known about the in store purchase or the online to collect in store but he didn’t have a clue. He then went to his manager and she said there is no 28 returns policy it’s 14 days and that’s it, but they still refunded my card.

He asked if I wanted to speak to the Manager but I’d had it with them by this stage and the wife and kids were moaning to have something to eat, so I just left it.

It wasn’t until later I was looking at the returns policy: picture below

Think I’ll be calling Apple tomorrow and advise the Manager working last night needs some refresher training!

Not sure about the UK, but here you technically have 30 day return policy. I could be wrong but there is a consumer law that says 30 days. This is with all businesses. When you return it (not sure again) there is a stocking fee or something attached to this policy. Some time this 14 day return policy was put into place for those that buy and return stuff. The manufacture doesn't make a profit cause they can't sell it as new.

Apple changed their policy a few years ago from 28 days to 14 days.
