Hi guys,

SO i've had my Air for almost a year now. Splashed out on the 1.8SSD model as soon as it came out and i'm very happy with it.

I've never had an issue with overheating when i'm just doing normal stuff, although when i'm watching video it gets so hot and starts stuttering. For example 24 on fox.com starts off fine and then after 2 mins gets jittery.

Is there anything i can do? Or am i supposed just to live with it? I gather then REV Bs don't have this problem because of the NVIDIA chip.

Have you upgraded Flash to version 10?

I tried a SSD 1.8 with Flash 9 and most HD on cbs.com looked great on the 1.8 but the 1.6 stuttered slightly. Do you have a good connection?

Thanks

 Are you serious? Dude, just do a little looking around and you MIGHT find some threads on that issue.

Ok well i tried searching and everyone is talking about core meltdowns which i'm pretty sure i don't have. I have iStat Pro and when i do daily tasks my heat is ok. It's just a video issue. Care to point me in the right direction?

Flash is known to be very poorly coded in OS X, so it spikes the processor in the Rev A, which can lead to stuttering (as it's an integrated video chipset) or core shutdowns. Flash 10 seems to help this somewhat. Google search for the new version and install it.

There are many threads on this, so you can search there for other solutions, including the coolbook app and removing some of the thermal paste from your processor.

Can this be done at an Apple store? I wondered whether there are any "definitive" solutions... other than "REV B works better". iChat video is so glitchy after 5 mins... will this really be solved with the thermal paste fix?
