Wow, SSD drives are really starting to pick up momentum. This was a long time coming.

SSD is right now in the evolving moment, so unless you want it now, you can wait 6-12 months and things(stability/capacity/cost ratio vs capacity/speed) double (maybe not the speed but it can still do improve much considering Intel one's bloody fast but expensive) and most OS isn't smart enough to handle SSD (or its firmware) properly, like you should get rid of page file off Windows XP and indexing service off etc etc to avoid sporadic tiny freezes, not sure what one should do with OS X though to tune it. (Maybe it already is, considering it's built within the product.)

Afaik, does it matter to be SLC or MLC anymore? I haven't researched so much, but MLC's lack of life span is more or less fixed and it's usually faster, less expensive... But I could be missing something.

The pricing is still not reasonable enough. Since the manufacturers are delaying shipment by more than 2 quarters, I expect by July/Aug 09, there is going to be a serious price war on SSD drives. By then the "big boys" like Seagate and WD will be in the race and the smaller time players will be squeezed seriously for price competitiveness.

If :apple: has any sense at all, they ought to be offering 64GB abd 128GB as discrete upgrade items in their store. No one company will have a monopoly on SSD drives.

Yes they updated their page since I posted the link.

So all you need to do is cut a hole at the bottom of your MBA ;)

So she was wondering? :D

back on topic:
Does anyone know if the connector is the right LIF type? I'll post pics on my modded MBA if someone can verify :)

This is the RunCore unit and as stated in another thread, it's a 5V unit so it will never work in an MBA no matter how thin it is.

Yes it's so amazing that the SSD price dropped so much during the two years.

I just found this 1.8" ZIF SSD just need 609$, much lower than you see on ebay or amazon!

And i believe the price will keep dropping!
