My MagSafe power adapter died quite suddenly on me today. It was working like a charm last night during my film class, but this morning the light refuses to come on. I've tried several outlets and made sure that the connecting pins are not retracted, but no dice. I have an appointment at my local Apple Store tonight to have a look, but the big question is: Will it be covered under warranty? I don't have $80 to spend on a new MagSafe, but I'm SOL unless I can get something.

Anyone have experiences with this?

If it is under a year old, or you have Applecare, it is covered.

Ah, joy. That's what I was hoping. I'd Googled it and a number of people with melted/exploded MagSafes (which mine is not, but which seemed even more warranty-worthy) had been told that their adapters were not covered.

There technically isn't a single macbook that has had it's warranty expire ; the very first weren't released this time last year.

I got my melted magsafe changed under warranty, no questions asked.
