I just switched from a Rev. A to a Rev. B 1.86 128gb SSD. On my Rev. A, the backlit keyboard got brighter as less ambient light was present, the new one dims in low ambient light and brightens in bright light... is there any way to fix this? Also, the backlighting of the keys is very uneven such that it's really bright around the edges and quite dim in the center of the keyboard. Is this normal for a Rev. B? Should I bug AppleCare about it?

If you've already done an SMC and PRAM reset, and it hasn't changed anything, might want to check with Apple.

Otherwise, use 'LabTick', and set it to whatever level you'd like.

Just an FYI, if your old Air got brighter the darker out it got, then there was something wrong with it. If the new one is getting dimmer as the ambient light also dims, that's how it's supposed to work. When there's less ambient light to combat, the screen and keyboard don't have to be as bright to combat the external light sources.

Why would you want the keyboard backlight to go out in a dark room... when you presumably need to see the keys better? Yes, the screen should, and does, dim in dark conditions, but the keyboard should do the opposite.

UPDATE: Apple Support was very friendly. This is, in fact, opposite of how the backlight on the keyboard should act. They are having me send it in for repairs. Does anyone know the typical turnaround for Apple's mail in service?

On a different note. I will be sending my old Rev. A in for repair to squaretrade today, so I'll get a very direct comparison of the quality of support for a MBA.
