Just been and bought an AirPort Extreme card for my RevA iMac G5 to get it up and running on our wireless network, do you think it will work? Of course it bloody won't

I know it's working cause I can create a computer-computer network, I also know the network is fine cause there are 2 Macs already on it.

I have installed the software that came with the card, and also reset the router just for good measure.

Any ideas what would prevent it from even seeing, let alone joining the network?

1. if the network is password protected or closed. open it up.
2. restart the iMac? probably already did but worth a try.
3. check for updates.
4. try resetting the router from scratch.

thats all i can think of for now.

1. can't unprotect it. it's an ISP supplied router that has limited config options, bastards.
2. done. but still probably worth another shot.
3. done.
4. done.

5. will kick s*** shortly

Mmmmmm. OK, so after rebooting everything for the 3rd time it's decided to see the network now....just. The other iMac right next to mine, and my powerbook both have full bars, yet somehow my iMac has 1. Just fan-bloody-tastic

try checking to see if the cable from the airport to the antennae is screwed in tight. that was the problem with my first generation g5

Anyways, panic over :)
