revB i ordered invisible shield today currently use Speck, what you think?

I currently use speck and always heard good stuff about invisible sheild today they have 50% OFF EVERYTHING code is memday09

what you all think is it better to keep that on vs speck since its add almost no bulk and has the same shinyness as the speck and protects all areas? I heard its bad to put it on the bottom cause the area opening and you have to use water.....I figured use that with a sleeve or what not n ill be good....comments from anyone n everyone specially those who use it are appreciated...

I get the point of the plastic cases but don't get why people would buy an Air and then add a bunch of plastic. The whole point of the MBA is tiny form super thin and that plastic just ruins everything the MBA represents. The plastic case could stop a dent, but I would rather just be careful. My worry with my Macs are always theft or my kids.

Now the invisible shield would be less bulky but would still mess with the look and more importantly the feel of the MBA. At the same time, I cannot see them stopping a dent from any fall/drop. So what's the point?

It could be worth it, but I would need some video proof. Will it stop a dent from a three foot fall? What will it prevent?

I am asking genuine questions here. Maybe it's great, but I don't see the protection worth the addition to my MBA...

Your point regarding the Speck case is well-taken ... I bought my MBA primarily for portability. I didn't like lugging a MBP across the ocean!

The Invisible Shield and similar products (I bought a Bodyguardz) offer only minimal protection from impacts. That's true enough. Their real utility, in my view, lies in scratch protection.

As you've noted, it's easier to just take care of your MBA. Having had my MBP scratched a couple of years ago by a TSA gorilla throwing my shoes on top of it, I tend to err on the side of caution. And I like the shiny finish; there's also a tactile benefit as well.

the speck seems like a great idea but kinda negates the thinness of the Air. The invisi shield I think is great because it makes the Air a bit more grippy and prevents scratching and does not add 'thickness' to it.

I got a speck because I got it cheap but I probably wont use it (a red one) and I will get the invis shield which I intend on using since I think it is worthwhile.

Best of both worlds

I like the Invisible Shield a lot. I've used it on both of my MBAs (Rev A and Rev B) as well as the screen of my iPhone. It allows me to not worry about scratches and toss it into the briefcase without alarm. No, it's not going to stop dents, but using the Incase shell I've tried will but it's just too big.

I have the invisibleshield on my mbp and my air. It add's zero bulk and makes it less slippery. I travel a lot and like to keep it well protected. I've installed a bunch of these things and they're still a pain in the ass. A scratch free macbook makes for better resale value though.

I have the Speck SeeThru on my rev.B and I TOTALLY see the point of using the hard cases

I cannot tolerate a scratch on my beautiful MBA aluminum body,
but I need the portability as well

my Spec SeeThru came in as with shiny, mirror-ish finish on the surface,
and let me tell you.... well, let's just say the plain,shiny, mirror-ish surface has gone through some sandpaper treatment

I cannot imagine what my MBA would be like if I have not got the Speck hard cases, it prbly would have look like a piece of junk by now

I have the hard case, and I (prbly) will never regret 'clipping' the hard cases on my MBA

Thats the thing though, its a beautiful system, so why bulk it up with plastic? Its like putting a thick plastic cover over a Corvette. It takes something that looks great, and removes all of the look from it. I purchased one of those bulktastic Speck cases for my Macbook Pro, and used it a few times. Just made a great looking system ugly and more bulky. The aluminum look AND feel is what I love about Apple products, I hated the PC plastic feel. So why put a plastic cover on? My Air and Pro are both going coverless from now on.

I have a Speck case on all my MacBooks. I like it more than invisible sheild because it can be removed in minutes without damage. Also it's not sticky like the sheild.
