I haven't yet jailbroken my iPhone 4 just to hangout and see if iOS 7 was worth it.. after deciding I didn't like it, I figured I have nothing to lose jailbreaking 6.1.3, which is what I have now on my iPhone 4.

However just recently I read that Apple no longer signs 6.1.3, which makes it pretty much impossible to revert from iOS 7 to iOS 6. That got me thinking - does this mean, that if I jailbreak 6.1.3, but then want to restore my iPhone to it's original backup in an un-jailbroken state, I won't be able to restore it to iOS 6, and would be forced to update to iOS7 anyway?

Any help would be appreciated!

yep, if a 4S or 5 requires the need to restore, it will only allow you to do so with iOS 7.

I believe on older devices like the iphone 4 go to whatever firmware, that's if you have saved SHSH blobs.

if you are currently on iOS 6.1.3, you can use iFaith (windows only) to dump your SHSH blobs which will allow you to downgrade back to iOS 6.1.3! (do note that this is only possible on your particular device)

Okay cool - so I used TinyUmbrella (for mac) to save my SHSH blob for 6.1.3. Can anyone point me to a tutorial that shows how to downgrade to 6.1.3 on an iPhone 4, just for future reference?

I'd still suggest using iFaith to verify that the iOS 6.1.3 SHSH blob is complete or not

you may have to downgrade/restore using redsn0w as running iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1 breaks custom ipsw

If you want to follow the iTunes route, you may need to downgrade iTunes to 11.0.5 or 11.0

I believe you can use redsn0w to make the custom ipsw. once you have the custom ipsw with the 6.1.3 SHSH blobs stitched, you would put the device into pwned DFU mode. Once in pwned DFU mode, you would shift + click restore in itunes and select the custom ipsw. I've always made my custom ipsw using iFaith or sn0wbreeze because I've encountered problems with redsn0w (in the past)

However, I have never done a restore using redsn0w so you may have to do some googling, wait for another user, or experiment yourself (be careful if it's the latter of the 3!)
