Considering the URL has the word Palm in it, you are going to a very treo biased website
Considering the URL of this forum has the word Mac in it, I am sure we are pretty Mac biased, whether or not we want to admit that is another question
I think PalmOS looks like it was pulled straight out of the DOS era with those ugly blocky letters. People complain about the iPhone not having a 'real wallpaper'...try having no wallpaper at all with PalmOS

I'd take a windows mobile device over a palm OS device, if that tells you something.

So with a few add-ons the Treo is better than probably the best iPod ever made? That guy is nuts if he thinks the Treo with add-ons is gonna beat an iPhone in media. I can see where the Treo would have some nice advantages over an iPhone for certain uses but it doesn't help your case when you can't even admit when your favorite device is out of its league in certain comparisons.

its the same if apple.com advertise windows vista. they would never say that treo is worst than iPhone ( but they know iPhone SMOKES any treo anytime)

That's just a sad, small review.
I'd love to see them actually show a video, side-by-side, of someone operating a Treo and operating an iPhone, and counting "taps" to get to different features. Really.

Most of the points he made against iphone just boil down to one single belief-a virtual keyboard is in his point of view inferior to a real one. It's cheap to use that argument over and over again in favor of treo.
As we all know iPhone touch-screen keyboard does take some learning curve. Unless you have spend couple hours learning it, you wouldn't get the whole iphone experience in terms of usability to its full potential. The author says himself he never had an iPhone and not in a position to make any claim.

They obviously understand their own bias, and that is fine as long as they understand that. No different b/t a blind Treo fanboy and a blind Apple fanboy.
Clearly the iPhone is a better product, if not as mature as the Treo. Palm apps have been around for a decade. The Treo phone has been around for 5 years. They really should take that into consideration. The iPhone is about to eat the Treo's batteries.
I just came from a Treo 700p. Great phone for what was out there (pre iPhone). My biggest complant is that the processor is slow and battery life is horrible.
BUT I loved the diverse Palm apps, I loved the 3G wireless. I loved the fact you could stream Internet radio on it and make your own ring tones. I loved how punctuation, numbers, and letters were all on ONE keyboard. These are basic usability issues that Apple is going to have to improve. Some can be done w/ updates on the iPhone 1.0. Others will have to wait until 2.0. They are needed improvements though for a phone of this price.
My personal tally though iPhone 7.5 Treo 3.5. I gave price and extras to Treo and split usability down the middle because of the iPhone keyboard layout (it really annoys me to have to go to a second screen for a freaking period. Web is faster on the Treo,but more readable on the iPhone, so I gave the nod to the iPhone.

i have a treo 700p and it's a fine phone. But using a treo right out of the box without installing 3rd party software...it doesn't compare to the iphone. I've read all these reviews about the iphone not stacking up to the treo, but the applications that they compare to the iphone (as far as writing word & excel documents, watching movies, and listening to music), you can't do with a treo until you buy the 3rd party apps
I have a Treo (I've had two), and while the iPhone is missing some features that the Treo has, I'm still getting an iPhone.
I don't use MMS, I don't need to record video, I don't need SD expansion ... but I do need to be able to make the phone do what I want, which is a major obstacle on the Treo.

I have both and I have to say of course the iPhone wins hands down but FOR ME the Treo 700wx (with Windooze on Verizon) works for me. Where I live my Treo 700wx has worked 98% of the time. I've had it for a while and its pretty nice. Even with Windooze (sorry) and I use all the features.
The iPhone is just awesome minus some bad points that I can live with BUT ATT is horrible. The service doesn't work where I live and I can't even make a phone call let alone get online. If I find a wifi then fine its awesome but defeats the purpose when I'm out and about driving, etc...

Yeah the keyboard argument has turned out to be one of the most hollow ones. And it hurts fans of other devices to no end, because any device albatrossed with a bulky hardware keyboard is immediately inferior.
They were hoping the Apple keyboard would suck and be unusable, but it does not suck and is not unusable. It is actually very good.
I am just dismissive of anyone who claims typing on little tiny hardware keys is easier than using the iPhone keyboard. Heck is more troublesome for me to type on my laptop then my iPhone.
I own a Treo 600 and seriously there is no way that can beat the iphone hands down... I think that I will continue to use the Treo for word processing but that's about it here
thats pretty funny.....Palm hasn't upgraded the Treo in awhile. Well they have, but it was all bumps, and Palm OS is getting old.

As a former Treo user, I would have to agree with some of what that review is saying. Some, not all.
There is NO DOUBT that hardware-wise, the iPhone is a superior piece of technology (outside of 3G), and the iPhone interface runs circles around Palm.
But..
Not being able to sync todos or notes
Not having a search function
Not having calendar/contact categories
These alone, notwithstanding the issues with 3rd party app support, are glaring omission even in a v1.0 product. Luckily, they can be easily fixed. Depending on how Apple allows 3rd party apps (not webapps), then we can see some other enhancements, like
Strong email client (with customizable SMTP profiles)
POP folder management
File Management
Detach/save email attachments
etc. etc.
I am not a fanboy of either, but out of the box Treo is a better business tool than the iPhone, hands down. Too bad its not as cool...
