Does anyone else find reviewers annoying? A long list of improvements to the iPhone 13 is pretty much dismissed by many of them. They seem more interested in the socket at the bottom of the phone. Had Apple moved to USB-C they would be all over it. Most of us really couldn't care less about the type of socket on their iPhones. Apple introduced AirTags. I don't know a single person in the real world who was excited about them, or even remotely interested, yet the reviewers were on about AirTags for months and months before they were released and had collective orgasms after the Apple announcement. I feel sorry for potential purchasers who are taken in by their hype to be honest. I am upgrading from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and the list of improvements make for a good upgrade, particularly from a non-pro model.

There are very few who I trust and who I believe do it for themselves rather than solely for clicks and revenue. Shame really.

Quite the contrary, I’d more than willing to take a look at some of those reviewers review rather than watching promotion ads from either Apple or somewhere else. Not all of them are “good” by any stretch, but sometimes their views are a bit more eye opening than what I’d think about.

In contrast, all marketing materials are dismissed by me unilaterally. All useless garbage.

With comprehensive 14-day return policy on most of the major markets Apple operates, one should be able to try out the product for a few days or maybe weeks before deciding whether they truly want it or not.

iPhone 13 is great. It's got what people need, a nice iterative release. Guaranteed they are going to sell a boatload of them.

Had Apple moved to USB-C

I still like Lightning. It's robust. I've never, ever had the Lightning port on an iPhone fail. And I've had some iPhones in constant use for ~ six years, repeatedly plugging in wired audio dongles ten times a day. Could USB-C stand up to that kind of use, for many years on end?

Who pays the reviewer or offers freebies for testing have to have effects. You're not using Consumer Reports for sure.

Great point, and let’s be honest MOST of these reviewers do not have any background/education in the field (eg. CS /Engineering/Journalism). They made a name for themselves either by creating idiotic faces on the YouTube thumbnails or clickbait headlines. If you observe carefully, you will see MKBHD would set a trend of discussion, eg, PRO-motion and then every “reviewer” amplifies it to get clicks, as was the case with air tags. Apple will then implement it because the reviewers have already created the marketing buzz for them. Next will be the items MKBHD spoke about in his most recent video (3 things iPhones are missing), all monkeys and clickbaiters are going to break the 3 things and produce 50 videos each, followed by apple implementing a couple of them. So, the expert “reviewers” have now become the source of Apples next engineering goals.
