iPod Revive my old iPod

I have a 1st gen ipod with the scroll wheel that I want to revive. It has a bum battery (i think). Where is the best place to get one? Are the DIY kits easy to use?

Edit: Now it has the sad face iPod. IS it useless?

I made a similar post recently asking for help. I was ignored to present. This forum doesn't seem to be as goo as the collectors or PPC in terms of repair advise and whatnot :/

great resource for repair manuals. and you can order all the parts and tools there for relatively cheap

iFixit has many good tutorials on repairing iPods:

Sadly, they don't seem to carry parts for that iPod any longer, but you can find most parts on eBay.

A sad face sounds like the firmware may be corrupt or the hard drive may be bad, either of those being a fairly easy fix.
