Is there anyway to have the have the overview of your messages when 3d touching a notification on a secured lockscreen?

Like this: For me it's only possible on an unsecured lockscreen

Doesn't it only show some messages from the current conversation to basically provide context and not just show the whole conversation or just things from a day or some time ago?

For me it only shows the received message and no context. It does give context when I am inside my phone

I believe dev beta 4 brought the ability to scroll back through the conversation in a Rich Notification reply instead of just showing the last few messages.

So basically making the whole conversation available (as it would be in the Messages app)? Even from the lock screen?

Isn't it determined by the setting "Reply with Message" in the Touch ID & Passcode setttings wether you can see the Rich Reply or not on lock screen? (I thought that's what was discovered in other earlier threads)

The ability to reply in general would seem to be. I'm not sure the ability to see the full conversation (even from days, weeks, months ago) has any particular controls related to it.

Realistically I'd probably rather have it that way (or perhaps with just a few recent messages from the conversation included for context), compared to the alternative of having having the full conversation being accessible there even from weeks and months ago when all kinds of other things might have been discussed/exchanged.

True but context would be good... also for visual styling: now there is a small text message inside that big box, looks kind of weird

It shows any messages received in that conversation while the phone was locked. So if you receive 3 messages from someone, then hit quick reply it'll show all 3. In iOS 9 quick reply only showed the message you hit quick reply on.

Any messages that arrive while quick reply is open will also show. (In 9, if you started to reply to a text and that person sent a follow up while you were typing, there was no way of seeing it without getting rid of what you had typed and dismissing quick reply)

Yep, this seems to be the way it works.

It seems that others are saying it shows the full conversation even with messages from hours or days or weeks ago that were already received, read, and probably replied to at an earlier time.

I believe you can pull down on the text or iMessage notification (if it comes in while your device is in use) and get the Rich Notification type reply. And from Notification Centre you can swipe left and select the View option (or 3D Touch if available on your device)

Maybe they changed it? Earlier betas from the lock screen you would see the little window with the conversation showing the last few back and forth replies in it. I remember someone mentioning in the beta 5 thread (maybe) that it was then possible to scroll back through that conversation to show more than just the last few messages. Now it seems (based on what some are saying) that it's back to just showing the message you're replying to?

I have one question related to rich notifications and I don't want to open a new thread just for this.

I think it was said that Apple will introduce this for devices without 3D Touch also (I have an iPhone 6). Is it available yet? Is it the same thing as sliding the notification to the left and hit the "show" button?

Was answered pretty much in the post I made right above yours.

Swipe left and select the "View" option of It's from the lock screen or Notification Centre. Pull down on the banner if you're using the device when one comes in.

Oops... it's late where I live

Thanks for the confirmation.

I find the new lockscreen very confusing...

Can anyone explain how I can get notifications from Messages, WhatsApp, etc. showing when the device is locked but not showing the content of the messages?

I could only figure out how to display everything (sender and message) or display nothing at all.
I would just like to see who send me something but unlock the phone to read the message.

The app itself needs to offer the option to display preview or not. Messages and Mail have that, and various other apps do as well, but many don't.

No idea what the problem is. Have you tried Reset All Settings or restoring?
When you get an iMessage notification on your lockscreen are you able to scroll to the whole conversation inside the notification??
