I read that RIFT will run under Crossover.

is anybody here doing this and if so how did they get it to install because
I cannot even get past the install process.

It crashes out with this error - The Downloading TaskiII' task failed

Honestly, I would never try running an MMO with Wine. Those games are a constant moving target with frequent patches and changes to them. Even if something works now there is a fair chance next patch it may not. Assuming you have the option, if ever there was a game to bootcamp, an MMO would be it imo.

I guess if you don't have bootcamp it is worth trying but I'd be hesitant to invest any money in the game since your ability to play it ongoing will always be questionable.

I posted before regarding running RIFT under Wine and got a very similar reply. I then read about people having this game running under Crossover not realising that Crossover was a commercialized version of Wine.

I do run RIFT under Bootcamp but if a game can be run in some way without rebooting then I like to give it a try.

Thanks for your reply =)

I cannot blame you there. I'm not fond of rebooting myself although it is nice to have the option at times.
