Right-click Caffeine menu icon in Yosemite, blue background gets stuck

After upgrading to Yosemite I notice that if I right-click on the Caffeine icon in the menu bar, the blue background that appears never goes away. The icon's background just stays blue no matter what I do: I can select an option, I can click somewhere else on the screen, it doesn't matter. The blue remains.

Doesn't happen with any other menu bar icons. With them, the blue background disappears as it should.

Any other Yosemite + Caffeine users out there having this problem? I'm on a mid-2012 13-inch MBP, OS X 10.10.

Good. Now solve my problem.

Not a solution, but if you quit caffeine and relaunch then it goes away until you right click again

A workaround is to control+click the icon (instead of right-clicking it) when you want to see the drop-down menu. That way the blue doesn't show up at all.

Hey I had the same problem with caffein and decided to create a caffein clone and support that in the app store. Fully Yosemite compatible of course.
