So when i put the preview on top of mavericks, i retained the option to right click the junk folder and choose delete junk messages. I like this way as i don't need to preview (and in return send a message back to spam owner that I'm alive)
yesterday i did a clean install of Yo, and now i lost that right click context. went through the settings but not seeing it. Anyone else notice this and/or knows how to bring it back? other wise ill report

same problem here...
I did a clean install with the official Yosemite Release. Did you found a solution?

yes this option is missing in yosemite... you have to delete messages from junk folder and then empty trash.. this is a two-step process and not very convenient... Mavericks gives you the option to empty junk mail folder directly. Why is this missing from Yosemite? Any options we can fiddle with?

Set the option to have email empty your trash everyday. Then it will automatically be done each day.

the solution is quite as simple. just check Move it to the Junk Mailbox in preferences.

I believe people are already having the Junk email move into the Junk folder.

taz judging from your experience I guess this is the best available solution..?

This is how I have always done it. My trash gets automatically cleaned out every day. I set my Junk e-mail to get deleted once a week as I like to go through it to make sure nothing valid has been tagged accidently as Junk.

after a clean install this option is not activated! the option in the right click menu is greyed out. after you check Move it to the Junk Mailbox the option is available.

Yes that is true. I was just pointing out that I believe people had already enabled that option and we're discussing why Junk e-mail could not be deleted without having it moved to the trash like when 10.9 was installed.
