I'm hoping that someone can help me out with this as it's getting pretty annoying. A few days ago, every time that I right click on a folder or file on the desktop or finder my system will reboot. (not physically turn off and restart, but the finder reboots and the desktop refreshes). If I right click on the dock everything is ok, and if I right click in an application everything is fine, it's just on the desktop and finder. I've repaired permissions and it still does the same thing as well. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thats very odd!

Only things i can suggest to do are check your hardware (even though it sounds like a problem with the finder) by running the hardware test on the boot disks that came with ure mac. (put DVD/CD in, restart and hold option (alt) then click on hardware test) Just to make sure theres not a problem there.

I would also verify your HD from disk utility. If they both come back negative i think its a problem with the OS....this is where i let some1 else give ideas on how to fix this

good luck

My finder used to restart like this everytime I plugged my iSight in. After the Apple Store genius tried deleting various preference files and zapping the PRAM, he suggested doing an Archive and Install of the OS again. It took about 40 minutes and all worked fine after that.
