On the bottom of the iPhone, does your right speaker output as much volume as the left? On mine, if I'm listening to the iPod without earphones or on speakerphone and I cover up the left one, 90% of the volume is lost.

The genius bar told me it's supposed to be this way the other day. Doesn't seem to be anything for the right speaker to do, though...it rings, speakerphones, and plays audio through the left only for me it seems.

Your iphone is working correctly.
The left is the speaker and the right is the microphone so sound is only coming out of the left side only.

Audio volume is crap on iPhone in contrast to my MANY years old Motorola/Nextel i90c, which has MUCH better volume for both the earpiece AND speakerphone...

I still don't get why I cannot access my recent calls list while ON a call... :(

ROTFLMAO! I must admit, I am guilty of the same thing. I thought the right side was blown. Duh, didn't even think. lol. That's too funny.

where exactly did you think the microphone was?

Again, I didn't even think of that. To test it out, I called my house line, listened on the house phone while I tapped on each (supposed) speaker (left & right) and sure enough, the right one IS the mic. lol! I just had to prove it to myself. Wow, now I feel stupid. lol.
