Okay,
I haven't even had my iPhone 3G for a week (picked it up Sunday) and I went to put my phone into silent before going to bed and the switch broke off.

Is this a common issue?!
I know someone had this happen to them at work.

I'm going to go have my phone exchanged tomorrow. Do they need to go through the whole activation process with Fido or can they just put my old sim in the new phone?

I've definitely heard that it can be a problem with the silencer switch breaking off. As far as getting the phone replaced, when I got mine replaced, they didnt have to take the sim out, just scan a new one and I was out the door in 10 minutes.

I swapped my 8gb iPhone for a 16gb iPhone and paid the difference :D

But all they did was take my SIM card out of my old one, put it in my new one, plugged it into iTunes and bam it was ready
