So I'm pretty livid at the moment. Just over a year ago I purchased what I believe is now referred to as a Ring Video Doorbell 1. It's never worked like it was supposed to but support ran me in circles until I couldn't return it. So I've already invested the $100 for the doorbell and at least another $50 in various mounts.

I just got a new router I need to connect the doorbell to, but it needs to be taken down because they stupidly put the Setup button on the back. The first of two screws and the end of their cheap screwdriver snapped off. I contacted support who eventually offered to send me a replacement screwdriver, which I got yesterday. The first screw twisted the screwdriver like a corkscrew but the screw itself just spins and won't come out. The second screw the screwdriver tip snapped off in the head of the screw but the screw didn't budge. I got the tip of the screwdriver out but after 2-3 tries the twisted screwdriver sort of rounded out the edges of the screw head. So I contacted support again since this is due to the cheap materials. But it's out of warranty so they basically said I'm out of luck, here's a code to buy a replacement doorbell at a discount. I REALLY don't want to spend more on their garbage when I've already thrown $150 out the window on the one I have.

In the meantime I have to remove it with force (as Ring put it) and somehow do this without damaging the various mounts or the siding on my house. The screw that spins, I think the part it threads into inside the unit is what is spinning. Thinking it was stripped I tried using super glue and still all it did was spin but wouldn't come out. The screw the head is rounded out, it didn't loosen and the rubber band trick didn't work. At this point I'm out of ideas and the doorbell has been inoperable for almost three weeks now.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get these two screws out?

Try a screw extractor. If you can find one small enough. Otherwise drill it out. The drill bit should be slightly larger than the screw head.

Sometimes the materials in the walls are too heavy for a good enough signal for a Ring. It won't matter how good your router is. Nothing will work short of installing an exterior hardwired access point. I've tried interior access points five feet from front doors which won't provide reliable Ring access.

It's unfortunate they don't have an Ethernet port.

My dad may have a screw extractor and I know he has a drill but I worry either will cause damage. It also crossed my mind, that if the one is spinning because the piece it's threaded into inside the unit is spinning, then I won't be able to screw it back in either because it will do the same thing.

But the doorbell gets a great signal, it's the camera and motion sensor that are just terrible.
