ny somewhere
i use my ringer at 2 different settings: half-way up (when it's on my desk, etc), and all the way up (when it's in my backpack).

is there a tweak/app/trick to getting it to jump from one setting to the other?
it's boring (LOL) to always be turning it up, then down..

(if there isn't a tweak for this, there should be...) :D

SBProfiles. While it won't automatically change the volume when you place it on your desk or in your backpack, you can use wifi or your location as a trigger.

For example, assuming your desk is at work, when you put the device in your backpack and leave, SBProfiles will recognize you left and will trigger the volume to change to whatever you set. Then when you get home and connect to your home's wifi (assuming you have that), you can have the volume automatically switch to a more appropriate level. I realize it's not the best solution but I just thought I should mention it. SBProfiles can also do wayyyy more than just volume. It's actually an incredible tweak. Offers so much value. And it's free.

Another alternative you can try is Volume Step. But that's not perfect either. Good luck. If you find a good solution please share it.

will try sbprofiles, and will continue my search. thanx!

Plus one on the SBprofiles suggestion. Instead of using triggers you could also just make a profile for backpack and one for desk. Then when you want to switch just change the profiles. You can set SBprofile to work with Activator so this would make it a two button press solution.

Oh wow what a fantastic suggestion. I COMPLETELY forgot you can manually switch profiles! Hahah that's what I get for posting past my bed time :D Thanks for making this recommendation. I think SBProfiles will work perfectly for him.

will try this out, and report back...

EDIT: simple enough, and works; created 2 profiles, and bringing up the menu with a long press of the home button. will explore the other options as well. thanx!

Sweet! Glad it worked out for you. Hopefully it runs smoothly and you get a finer control over your device. After all, that's the beauty of jailbreaking!

this is so simple, am happy. takes a second to switch profiles, and i have what i want.

thanx again, love this forum (and my jb'd phone....)
