Ringtone Assign to Contact Issue

Hi

I bought a ringtone from iTunes using my iPhone 8 +. It was one I wanted to assign to my mom. I also have a cell enabled iPad Pro 10.5. I can assign the customer ringtone to het iPhone contact but when I try to add it to her iPad contact the iPhone switches back to the default “Opening”. When I fix it on the iPhone the iPad changes to “Opening”. Rinse and repeat.

My workaround is to turn off contacts syncing through iCloud on the iPad. Then they both keep the ringtone I bought and assigned.

Any insight is much appreciated.

Cannot help you, but, I have exactly the same problem. Any body have any ideas?

Well what I did is that I turned off iCloud syncing for contacts on my iPad. It definitely worked (I had stereo ringtones lol). Its certainly non optimal but it works. Just make sure you check the box to keep the contacts already on your iPad.

I imagine it would work in reverse as well (iPad cloud sync contacts "on" and turn them off on your iPhone)
