After several years of owning an iPhone, I purchased a black HTC One yesterday. I don't really care for the installed ringtones or alert notifications. How do I go about changing them? I used The Imperial March on my iPhone and would love to have it on my One.
If you can convert your ringtone on your iPhone to an .MP3 or .WAV sound file, just copy it to the Ringtones folder on your phone. You can pretty much use any sound file as a ring tone. Just copy it to the Ringtones folder on your phone.
I'm not that familiar with ringtones that originate from the iPhone. I moved my wife's ring tone on her old Android phone to her iPhone a year ago. That process involved renaming files. The ringtone file on iOS has a .M4R extension. I had to convert the .MP3 file to an .M4A file by importing it into iTunes. Then I renamed the extension to .M4R. After that I could then drop it into her ringtones via iTunes. You may have to do this conversion backwards.
You might have to use an app called RingDroid. I had to on my old HTC Desire Z before it would recognise my sound file as a ring tone. On my Samasung GS3, I just copied the file and it worked.
