Ringtone issues and iNotes issues with xs MAX and ios12 update

So, the ringtone problem happened when I upgraded to ios12 on my iphone 8, and it carried over to my XS Max. No matter what ringtone I set, after a few times, it goes back to the default "Bell" ringtone. It is super annoying.

Also, since I moved to XS Max from iphone 8, I cannot search any of my notes. They all show up, but I can not search them. Please help! I really don't feel like going all the way back over to the apple store over this stuff.

Have you tried to update to the latest version if these issues were resolved for you? Update using iTunes if you haven't yet.

Yes, it is up to date. I tried a technique where I choose the ringtone over and over so that it saves, then reboot. It is working, so far, but it has been known to revert back to original even then.
