Ringtones and Alert Tomes

Is there a way to create "alert tones" like we can ringtones? I know how to create the ringtones and get them onto the iPhone and show under "ringtones", but is there a way to do the same for alert tones without having to have them show up under ringtones?

It shows under ringtones but you can select the sound for other alert tones too

Yes I get that, I guess I’m asking for my OCD brain…
