Hey,

I have several customer ringtones that I have made and worked for a long while without any problems.

Lately though, the people that I set custom ringtones for end up having their ringtone reset to the default ringtone (whatever it may be).

For example, I set song 1 as my wife's ringtone. It works for a few days, then on some random day it will reset itself back to default. It does this for any person I change the ringtone for.

Anybody have this issue or know how to solve it?

Same thing here. Not sure when it went bad either. But I'd sure like to know why too.

The update seemed to have fixed this issue for me, but I think that when you upgrade firmware, it updates the phone, then restores it from the backup. So the solution may have been a firmware reinstall.

Maybe when the next update comes out your issues will be solved also. You are right though, it pissed me off when I had the issue because when I have my phone in my holster and am driving with my headset on, I rely on my ringtones to know who is calling me. I found it to be unreliable when my ringtones reset themselves.

guh. wtf. im having this problem now too. It started last a few days ago while ive had 2.2 and now today, I upgraded to 2.2.1 after I had reset and reput all my ringtones to the people I wanted and now, everything is back to default. Not a HUGE deal but pretty fraking annoying.

Same here

I've been having the same problem too. What I did notice was I started to have this problem when I started using the Mobileme service (but I haven't verified that it is indeed that by turning it off for a week or so). It's almost like the ringtone part doesn't get backed up and then all this info is sent back to the phone... including the default ringtone. I've tried the latest firmware too but no luck. The part that really stinks about this is that, since I don't know how often it does it, I can't tell the apple store about it because it's not a problem they can see.

Mobile Me was released July 11th, 2008, also the day of the 2.0 firmware update. I think it was most likely cause by the update then Mobile Me. For some reason the update may of not allowed the Custom Ringtones to be backed up. I would have expected it to be fixed by now but apparently it has not.
