Ringtones w/o itunes in 1.1.3

Hey guys, I just upgraded to a jailbroken 1.1.3, and am trying to figure out how I can get my custom ringtones to work. With 1.1.1 and 1.1.2, I just had the ringtones synced on my phone as songs, then used the app SendSong to make them ringtones. That doesn't work anymore in 1.1.3, anyone know how I can get my ringtones back?

Here's one solution

1. Go to iTunes and select whatever song you want for the ringtone
2. Go to the info panel for that song
3. Put the start and stop information in for what chunk of the song you'd like to have as a ringtone and close the info panel
4. With the song still highlighted, head to the advanced menu and select "Convert Selection to AAC"
5. When it's done, delete the reference to the new song in iTunes but do not delete the file itself
6. Locate the file and change the extension to .m4r
7. Double click on that new file and it should show up in iTunes under the ringtones category

Now you can just sync up your ringtones like your would if you had bought them. BTW, I've done this on a 1.1.3 jailbroken and iTunes 7.6

Thanks for the info man! I knew that trick worked in 1.0.2, and I thought it stopped working after 1.1.1 for some reason.

I read ur information I did the same but I am unable to understand the 5th step but after conversion this files is stored in itunes folder with extension .m4a I renamed it and dragged it to itunes ringtone but it is unable to sync with it,file size is 1.6 mb

If you have the latest Garageband you can do it no problem. Import any song from iTunes and get whatever chunk you want and then just export it to iTunes for your iPhone to sync with.

It's a great feature.

The beauty is it gives you the option to export it as a ringtone. They build iPhone support if you like into the latest Garageband. It's really great and simple to use. Goes straight into Ringtones in iTunes and you're all set!

With GarageBand 4.1.1 you can export your original song, your original audio recordings, or use Apple Loops and iLife jingles to create a custom ringtone for your iPhone.

Here's what you need to do it:

GarageBand 4.1.1 or later
iTunes 7.5 or later
iPhone with software version 1.1.2 or later

To create a custom ringtone

Set up a cycle region that covers the area you wish to use in the GarageBand song. Note: This area must be 40 seconds or less in length.
Once the cycle area has been set, choose Share > Send Ringtone to iTunes.
