how do i change the artist name

i went under "get info", but it wil not let me edit anyting. what do i do now?

Me too!

I just got the iphone 4 and i found out how to sync the ringtones and download them from myxer. The ringtones i created from my music library on my phone i can only download one of them. After i change the name of the artist so it will sync (cuz i had that problem too) i can download them but if i download more at different times it erases the previous ones i synced. Also the ringtones i downloaded from myxer when i get into the get info to change the song name it doesnt let me do anything. Cant click on anything to edit them or nothing. Im about to throw my phone out a window.....please help

I'm in the exact same fix!I read"I just changed the name and it worked." How can we change the name if it won't let us?I HATE stupid Iphone and can't wait to get rid of it for good...next year haha

:) This worked! Woo-hoo!
Totally bizarre — changing the artist name worked for me as well. I already had artist names listed in my ringtones, but I simply had to CHANGE the artist name for it start syncing. I can think of no logical explanation for this, but at least it works now!

Just when I think it isn't possible to hate apple any more than I already do, I try and do the simple task of putting a ringtone onto my iPhone. I hope apple burns down to the ground. Had iPhones since the first one and have macs all over my house but hate the company with a passion more and more with every passing year. Greedy scumbags just want to squeeze every penny out of us stupid enough to buy their overpriced slave made goods. Just because they wanna sell us ringtones I gotta jump through hoops of flames to put one of my tracks (which they don't sell on iTunes) onto my own device. Screw you apple. My next phone is a Samsung.
[doublepost=1459101798][/doublepost]Thankfully I have my IPhone Jailbroken. Anything to get out of their shackles a little.
After two hours of banging my head against a wall, I found this app.

two seconds later, the song was in my settings folder. Me - 1 / Apple - 0.

SCREW YOU APPLE!!!!

[doublepost=1512340569][/doublepost]Some of these posts seem pretty old, but I'm having the same issue. iTunes shows my Tones, but they don't sync with my iPhone 6S (since I upgraded about a year ago?). The list is grayed out except for 2 of them, and they have an "!" in the bubble next to the name of the tunes. All are under 40 seconds long, and all but two have the Artists' names...but since they're grayed out, I can't edit them.

[doublepost=1548938036][/doublepost]I have the same problem. There are two custom ringtones that won't sync. They are in my iTunes library. They were on my phone and I had them for years. It must have been the latest update because now they won't sync to my phone. And I can't put in an artist name.
