How are the ringtones on the iPhone? Are they annoying? Are there a variety? Can you put songs you currently have as your ringtones??? (doubtful though)

when i was listening to them, all i kept thinking was how very "appleish" they all were. if you're familiar with some of the classic apple sounds, well the iphone ringtones fit right in. you can't add your own at this point (there are rumors this will be supported soon through the itunes store), but the ones they give you are really simple and elegant.

They are very Apple-ish, but there alright. I do want to beable to create my own from my iTunes library, but I am alright with using the Apple ringtones.

The "alarm" one cracks me up. It sounds like one of those movies when a battleship turns on all it's sirens to abandon ship. As for the others, there pretty good with really good quality.

first post with iPhone

what I find interesting is that the standard ringtone you hear in all the recent apple ads isn't an offered ringtone. I'm using the marimba tone that was heard at macworld.

Awesome ... I've been using that on my KRZR for a few months now and it's easily the most pleasant ringtone I've ever heard. I'm hoping that .mp3 files of the others surface soon.

I'm not dumping Verizon for AT&T just to get an iPhone, as AT&T doesn't have reliable coverage at my house, but I can at least have a decent ringtone. :)

I used to like making my own ringtones, but the more I hear other people's awful ringtones, I'm a bit relieved that it's not a feature yet in the iPhone.
