Riot, the company responsible for the extremely popular MOBA League of Legends, officially announced that they will be shutting down the mac beta due to their inability to update both osx and windows clients effectively. This means that any mac users that enjoy playing LoL will either have to buy a version of windows to play, or wait and see if they will ever revisit the osx client.
This is, of course, over a year after they announced the closing of the beta, and promised its users a final client "soon". Since then, they have avoided the subject entirely. In fact, they had stopped coding it, leaving it up to the community to create their own client (which won't work either after the shut down) that worked better than the other, and had even fixed some bugs in the windows version that Riot had not been able to fix.
Anyways, if any of you were looking forward to playing the new expansion "Dominion", it is expected to release the same day as the shut down.
