AT&T Cust, on 1.1.4, Ziphone Jailbroken (not unlocked or downgraded) many weeks ago.

Out of the blue, a week ago, my stupiPhone started acting a little odd. When in its cradle, it'd start making the "I'm in the cradle now!" sound at random times. After a couple days of that, it was 50 times in a row, again at random. A couple days later, while it was sitting there, one of those sleek blue text windows (like the wiggly icon instruction window) popped up atop my springboard and said "This device is incompatible with the iPhone". Strange, I thought. What device? It went away. But came back, again at random. Then went away. Minutes ago, I push the home button to turn it on, and nothing. Power button, also nothing. Holding them down, nothing. No DFU mode, just a whole lot of nothing.

One dead to the world iPhone.

Got oh, what, four weeks of use a crashy mp3 player, for $600?
Very nice.
Now to lose another $200 for cancelling this spotty AT&T service.

its a dead logic bored, had the same problem you can try warranty or replace the logic board yourself from ifixit.... your choice... it runs about $200 and is a PITA but it is possible to do as I did mine myself and my phone works great now.

Just get it warranty replaced. Especially if you're with AT&T they wont have any reason not to replace it.

My friend in Canada with me had his break on him and it was unlocked as well, but they couldn't turn it on to check. And he's not even with AT&T, but they still replaced it.

Cool. I gave it a moment of ethical consideration, and decided that since I've bought three G5's, a new iMac, and two iPhones, and have paid for full warranties and extended plans on all, and never once actually called Apple ever, I've got some good service-department karma built up. As well, since I've paid top dollar for each iPhone and never saw a rebate, and am paying through the nose for AT&T's service like a good little boy each month, they're definitely making their money.

If the ziPhone jailbreak is what caused my phone to die, well, that's one thing, but I've yet to see any way that could be.

Alternately, if they were to refuse to replace it, they would actually lose considerable money, because I would simply terminate this awful AT&T service, and they'd lose their kickback. As well, I'd probably lose my romance with the company, and consider more economical solutions in the future.

So, I'm taking it in for warranty.
