Photosmith, an app for synching with Lr (and one that was better at it than Lr Mobile) has ceased development and support.

But the really interesting thing is that the developers blogged about the history of the app, how much money they made, and the struggles they encountered in making a photo app that had to keep up with Apple. It's a great read, and required for anyone who ever feels the urge to post complaints about apps (like me ;)).

The key question.....what is the best replacement for Photosmith on a iPad Pro? All I really need is raw file import, viewing, culling....and maybe some minor editing for images I need to share immediately. The intent is to take the keeper raw files back to the desktop and import them into LR.

Look at Lr Mobile, Photophile, or Mylio. But mostly the last two; Lr Mobile is more of a desktop to mobile solution.

I agree. I have no idea what Adobe was thinking with LR Mobile. Before you can chose to port images from the desktop to the iPad.....they first have to be captured in the field and imported in the desktop.
